Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping across two entities, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded using Xero and maintained in line with best practices.
Process purchase invoices with careful attention to correct coding, CIS treatment, VAT application, and Domestic Reverse Charge requirements, supporting compliance across all business activities.
Prepare monthly CIS returns for HMRC, including verifying subcontractors, calculating deductions, and issuing payment statements to ensure regulatory adherence.
Maintain comprehensive subcontractor records and CIS documentation for construction and development projects, supporting ongoing compliance efforts.
Assist with quarterly VAT return preparation by applying appropriate VAT treatments to transactions related to construction, development, and investment activities.
Conduct regular bank reconciliations as well as supplier statement reconciliations, project costing allocation reviews, and general ledger reviews to support month-end reporting and cost control.
Liaise professionally with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve invoice queries, payment issues, and account discrepancies promptly.
Support the finance manager during month-end processes by contributing to reporting requirements and handling ad hoc finance administration tasks as needed.
Maintain organised, complete, and up-to-date finance records that underpin financial reporting, tax submissions, compliance checks, and management information needs.
