QC Technician
Location: West Yorkshire Job Type: Permanent Salary: Competitive Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (start at 6 am or 6:30 am)
Reed Scientific is recruiting for a QC Technician to join our client's QC department, where you will be instrumental in supporting the effective operation of their Quality Control function. This role is crucial for ensuring that all laboratory activities are carried out accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with established quality and health & safety standards.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
Conduct routine quality control testing of production batches, including total solids, pH, viscosity, specific gravity, and particle size, following approved procedures and specifications. Review test results against approved specifications, identify any discrepancies or non-conforming results, and take appropriate actions to solve or escalate issues. Adjust production batches as necessary to meet quality specifications and accurately record all adjustments. Decide on passing or failing production batches based on test results and approved specifications, ensuring all results are accurately recorded and documented. Verify incoming raw material certificates of analysis against approved specifications and escalate any discrepancies. Maintain product specifications, quality documentation, and relevant data files, ensuring information is accurate, current, and accessible. Prepare certificates of analysis for outgoing finished goods as per customer and product requirements. Perform daily/weekly calibrations of lab equipment and log results. Ensure laboratory equipment, test methods, and work areas are maintained to required standards. Assist with general lab and quality control duties as needed, including sampling and investigations. Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the laboratory, ensuring compliance with health & safety, quality, and efficiency requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in a laboratory, quality control, or manufacturing environment is desirable. Familiarity with routine laboratory testing and adherence to defined test methods and procedures. Ability to record and maintain accurate test results, quality records, and documentation. Good understanding of quality control principles and the importance of adhering to product specifications. Experience with laboratory equipment and routine calibration checks is desirable. Proficient in reviewing and interpreting test results and identifying quality issues. Good computer literacy and experience using systems to record and retrieve information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Understanding of health & safety requirements in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
