Overview
We are supporting a rapidly growing MedTech start-up in the recruitment of a Support Engineer to join their expanding team. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role where you will provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for advanced electro-mechanical equipment deployed in hospital environments across the UK.
This position requires a strong blend of mechanical, electrical, and software understanding , combined with excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with senior clinical and technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide on-site and remote technical support for electro-mechanical medical equipment Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve faults spanning mechanical, electrical, and software systems Install, commission, and configure equipment at customer sites Act as a trusted technical liaison with hospital staff, clinicians, and senior stakeholders Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and system upgrades Analyse system performance and identify root causes of issues Escalate complex issues internally and collaborate with engineering and product teams Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation Deliver basic user training and technical guidance to end users Ensure all work complies with relevant healthcare regulations and safety standards
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience supporting electro-mechanical equipment or systems Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electronics, and software-driven devices Experience diagnosing faults across integrated hardware/software systems Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation Previous experience in a field service or customer-facing engineering role Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior customers Highly organised with strong attention to detail Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively
Desirable Skills
Experience within MedTech, healthcare, or regulated industries Familiarity with embedded systems or software diagnostics Knowledge of networking or connected devices Understanding of relevant compliance standards (e.g., ISO, medical device regulations)
