Contract Senior Stress Engineer

Belcan is looking for an experienced Contract Senior Stress Engineer to support cutting-edge Research & Technology (R&T) aerostructures Static Stress activities based in Bristol, initially on a 4 month Inside IR35 contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work on next-generation aerospace concepts and technology demonstrators, helping mature innovative structural solutions from concept through to TRL3 and beyond.
The Senior Stress Engineer will play a key role in the assessment and substantiation of composite (CFRP) structures, applying Airbus-approved methodologies to analyse, evaluate and validate novel designs. Working within a research-driven environment, you'll combine analytical expertise with practical engineering judgement to support the development of future aircraft technologies.
What you'll be doing:
Performing static stress analysis of advanced CFRP structures and demonstrators Developing and assessing analytical and finite element models Correlating analysis results with physical test data Producing high-quality stress reports and technical documentation Supporting concept development, design reviews and technology maturation activities Presenting technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders
What we're looking for:
Significant aerospace structural stress analysis experience Strong composites (CFRP) analysis expertise Working knowledge of the Airbus ISAMI stress analysis suite Experience with FEA tools such as Nastran, Patran or HyperMesh Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
Research & Development experience Knowledge of Airbus 3DX design-to-FEM processes
