Job Overview
Pulse is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join the pharmacy team in South London. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled pharmacy technician to work within a specialist mental health setting, supporting ward-based medicines management services and ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines.
The successful candidate will work closely with pharmacists, nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care, contribute to medicines optimisation initiatives, and support positive patient outcomes across the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
Provide ward-based pharmacy technician support across designated clinical areas.
Undertake medicines reconciliation and support medicines optimisation activities.
Assist in ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
Perform Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) duties where appropriate.
Support patients through medication counselling and medicine-related advice.
Work collaboratively with pharmacists and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care.
Maintain accurate pharmaceutical records and documentation.
Contribute to clinical audits, service developments, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and maintain up-to-date mandatory CPD requirements.
Hold an Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) qualification.
Possess the HEE Medicines Optimisation qualification or equivalent.
Have proven post-qualification hospital pharmacy experience.
Demonstrate substantial ward-based pharmacy experience.
Possess strong knowledge of medicines management principles and safe clinical practice.
Be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Have excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
