Accountant Exeter, Devon £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
Our client, a growing and well-established professional services business, is seeking an experienced Accountant to take ownership of its client accounting function on a full-time, permanent basis.
As the Accountant, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of client accounting services across a varied portfolio, while developing and supporting a small team. Working closely with senior stakeholders and clients, you will combine strong technical accounting knowledge with a proactive and personable approach, helping to strengthen processes and support the continued growth of the business.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a close-knit and forward-thinking team where you will have genuine autonomy, responsibility, and scope for long-term progression.
The responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the client accounting function Manage reconciliations across multiple client accounts Prepare management accounts and yeare-end accounts, along with various other financial reporting Oversee VAT and MTD submissions Manage purchase ledger and supplier payments Review financial information and resolve discrepancies Support and develop junior finance team members Improve processes, systems, and financial controls
The candidate:
AAT Level 4 qualified, studying towards, or qualified by experience Strong practical accounting experience within a client-focused environment Strong double-entry bookkeeping knowledge/experience Extensive experience using Xero and confident with Excel Good knowledge of VAT, tax, reconciliations, and management accounts Confident leader with excellent organisation and communication skills
