Client Portfolio Accountant
Location: Derby (hybrid)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Job Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Client Portfolio Accountant to join a growing accountancy business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant who enjoys working closely with clients, managing a varied portfolio and providing both compliance and advisory support. You will play an important role in supporting clients with their accounting and tax requirements while developing strong, long-term relationships.
The role would suit someone with at least three years' experience within an accountancy practice or similar environment, who is looking for the opportunity to develop their career within a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
Managing a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors and business types. Providing accounting, tax and general business advisory support to clients. Ensuring client accounts and tax compliance requirements are completed accurately and within deadlines. Developing strong relationships with clients and acting as a trusted point of contact. Understanding clients' businesses and providing commercially focused advice. Managing multiple assignments and prioritising workloads effectively. Supporting clients with their wider accounting and business needs. Working collaboratively with colleagues while also taking ownership of your own portfolio and responsibilities.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
At least three years' experience within an accountancy practice or similar environment . AAT, ACCA or ACA qualification , or demonstrable equivalent experience. Candidates who are in the later stages of their studies will also be considered. Good knowledge of UK tax legislation and compliance requirements . Experience managing client portfolios and providing advisory services. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. A commercially aware approach, with an understanding of the wider business impact of your work. The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and consistently meet deadlines. A self-motivated and proactive approach. The ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
Experience using cloud accounting software, particularly Xero and FreeAgent . Experience working with freelancers, contractors, sole traders and SMEs .
