Job Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join a busy acute inpatient service in Leicester. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced therapist to work within a fast-paced hospital environment, supporting adults with a range of communication and swallowing disorders.
You will manage an adult acute inpatient caseload, delivering high-quality assessment and intervention for patients with complex needs, including dysphagia. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in supporting patient recovery, safety, and quality of life during their hospital admission.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties within an acute inpatient setting.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
- Undertake dysphagia assessments and contribute to safe swallowing management plans.
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, including medical, nursing, and therapy colleagues.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Contribute to service development and clinical discussions as appropriate to banding level.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A UK-recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration and membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Experience working with an adult acute inpatient caseload (NHS experience desirable but not essential).
- Postgraduate dysphagia training and confidence managing swallowing disorders.
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and time-management skills.
