Complex Needs Teaching Assistant

Academics are looking for an experienced Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to support vulnerable children in schools across Warrington on a range of short term and long term contracts.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, SEN professionals and care workers who are looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people in Runcorn.

The Role

As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may have a range of additional needs, providing tailored support to help them feel safe, confident and able to engage in their learning.

Your responsibilities may include:

Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with complex and additional needs. Supporting pupils with their learning, communication, emotional wellbeing and social development. Assisting with personal care where required, always maintaining dignity, respect and confidentiality. Supporting pupils who may display challenging or distressed behaviours using appropriate strategies. Working closely with teachers, SEN professionals and other members of the school team. Helping to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Encouraging pupils to develop independence and confidence in their everyday lives. Following safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have:

Previous experience working within an SEN school or specialist educational setting . Experience supporting vulnerable children and young people . A background in personal care , ideally within a school, care or support environment. Experience working with pupils with complex needs, physical disabilities, autism, communication difficulties or challenging behaviour. Excellent patience, empathy and communication skills. A calm, caring and nurturing approach. The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people. A genuine passion for helping pupils reach their potential.

Candidates with a background in care will be particularly welcomed , especially those with experience as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Care Worker or similar role. Your transferable skills can be incredibly valuable within a specialist school environment.
