Talend Data Engineer
Contract: 6 Months Location: Primarily Remote (travel to Telford approximately twice per month. Worthing may also be considered) Clearance: SC Eligible
Equipment Collection: London, Manchester, or Telford
Rate: £540 per day Inside IR35
We are seeking Data Engineers to support delivery within a large-scale data exploitation programme. The role will focus on developing and maintaining ETL pipelines within an established Talend framework, alongside working with Oracle RDS databases and CI/CD pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain ETL solutions using Talend Build, optimise, and maintain Oracle SQL queries and DDL artefacts Contribute to the development and enhancement of CI/CD pipelines using GitLab Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve defects throughout development and testing phases Conduct component and unit testing, including the creation of test data Support QA activities, performance testing, and production releases Perform peer reviews of development, testing, and technical artefacts Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of programme objectives
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience developing ETL solutions using Talend
Proven experience working with Oracle databases , ideally Oracle RDS Strong SQL development and data modelling expertise Experience working within structured Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) environments Knowledge of testing frameworks and best practices for data engineering solutions Experience with CI/CD tools , preferably GitLab Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively within Agile delivery teams Eligible for Security Clearance (SC) and able to pass BPSS screening
Desirable Skills & Experience
Previous experience within large-scale enterprise environments Experience working on public sector or government programmes Understanding of data exploitation, analytics, or data warehousing solutions Exposure to cloud-hosted database environments
