An established London Market insurance business is looking to appoint a Claims Manager to join its specialist casualty claims function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced casualty claims professional who enjoys a balance of technical claims handling, team leadership, stakeholder engagement and portfolio oversight. The successful candidate will manage a small team of claims professionals while retaining oversight of a varied casualty claims portfolio, predominantly focused on general liability and public liability across UK and Ireland business, with some exposure to international and US claims. The portfolio includes claims across sectors such as retail, manufacturing and sport. Key responsibilities will include:
Managing and supporting a small team of casualty claims professionals, including workflow, development, performance and technical guidance. Overseeing a portfolio of casualty claims from notification through to conclusion, including coverage, liability, quantum, reserving and settlement strategy. Providing hands-on technical input on complex and high-value matters, including large loss reporting and escalation where required. Ensuring claims are handled fairly, efficiently and in line with internal standards, regulatory requirements and service expectations. Working closely with brokers, insureds, lawyers, loss adjusters, TPAs, underwriters, actuaries and other internal teams throughout the claims lifecycle. Supporting client meetings, market engagement and claims review discussions where required. Monitoring claims trends, portfolio performance and emerging legal or regulatory developments. Maintaining strong file quality, accurate reporting and clear audit trails across the team. Driving continuous improvement across claims handling, service delivery, reporting and operational processes. Contributing to a collaborative, commercially aware and technically strong claims environment.
Requirements:
Strong technical casualty claims experience gained within the London Market. Previous people management, mentoring or team leadership experience. A background handling general liability, public liability or wider casualty claims. Confidence managing complex claims involving coverage, liability, reserving and negotiation. Experience working with brokers, clients, panel lawyers, TPAs and internal stakeholders. Strong analytical, organisational and decision-making skills. The ability to manage competing priorities across both technical claims work and team management. A collaborative approach, with the confidence to provide challenge and direction where needed. Good awareness of relevant regulatory, legal and market developments. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present claims information clearly. This role would suit a technically strong casualty claims professional who is ready to take on a broader leadership role, or an existing claims manager looking for a varied position within a respected London Market environment. The position offers the opportunity to influence claims outcomes, support the development of a small specialist team and play an active role in the ongoing performance of a casualty claims portfolio.
