About the role Are you an experienced Shift Engineer looking for a well-paid engineering role within a large-scale FMCG manufacturing environment?
This is an opportunity to join a highly automated dairy manufacturing site in Leeds, where engineering reliability is critical to keeping a 24/7 production operation running safely and efficiently.
As a Shift Engineer, you will work as part of a skilled engineering team responsible for planned maintenance, preventative maintenance, fault finding and breakdown response across complex processing, packaging and production equipment.
You will have the opportunity to work with modern industrial technology while contributing to engineering improvements, root cause analysis and projects that improve reliability, safety and production performance.
What you'll be doing As a Shift Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance across a 24/7 manufacturing site
Responding quickly and effectively to mechanical and electrical breakdowns
Fault finding on automated production and process equipment
Maintaining and troubleshooting CIP systems, pasteurisers, separators and homogenisers
Working on pumps, valves, flowmeters and heat exchangers
Supporting automated control systems and associated production equipment
Maintaining filling lines, conveyors, chilling systems and other manufacturing machinery
Identifying recurring faults and contributing to root cause analysis (RCA)
Supporting continuous improvement and engineering reliability initiatives
Working with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise equipment availability
Supporting engineering projects, modifications and equipment improvements
Completing maintenance records and updating the CMMS/SAP system
Working safely and contributing to risk assessments and site safety standards
Following food manufacturing, hygiene, quality and engineering procedures
What we're looking for Essential
Time-served engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering training
NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification
Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or similar engineering role
