Laboratory Technician
Location: Maidenhead, SL6 6AW Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8.00am-4.30pm Working weeks: Approximately 36-37 weeks per year, during term time Start date: October 2026

Are you an organised, practical and approachable Laboratory Technician with a science background and experience handling chemicals and scientific equipment?
Claires Court is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the efficient and smooth running of our Science Department practicals. This varied, hands-on position would suit someone with excellent people skills, a flexible approach and a strong understanding of laboratory health and safety.

The Role
As Laboratory Technician, you will provide technical support to our science teachers and contribute to pupils’ learning by preparing the materials, solutions and apparatus required for practical lessons, coursework, demonstrations and enrichment activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing materials, chemical solutions and scientific apparatus for lessons Assisting teachers with the planning and delivery of practical science activities Supporting practical experiments and classroom demonstrations Collecting, checking and returning equipment following lessons Maintaining laboratories, microscopes, apparatus and other scientific equipment Organising the safe storage and disposal of chemicals and waste materials Completing stock checks, placing orders and processing deliveries and invoices Keeping appropriate departmental financial and health and safety records Carrying out minor equipment repairs or arranging external repairs when required Trialling new experiments and identifying any potential practical or safety issues Undertaking appropriate risk assessments and maintaining health and safety documentation Keeping laboratories, preparation areas, glassware and fixed equipment clean, secure and organised Preparing equipment for science clubs, open days and other school activities Supporting displays and enrichment projects within the Science Department
