Senior Mechanical Engineer - Propulsion - Reading, UK We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of the mechanical design of one or more advanced propulsion systems. You will take designs from the first concept and physical architecture through detailed design, material selection, analysis, testing and manufacturing, ultimately helping define the production systems needed to build the product at volume. What We're Looking For:
Hands-on mechanical engineering experience Proven experience owning the design of electromechanical systems, rotating machinery or similar complex mechanical products from concept through production or qualified prototype Strong experience with rotating machinery Design for manufacture Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally SolidWorks Experience selecting materials for high-performance mechanical assemblies Experience defining tolerances for rotating and thermally loaded components Experience with thermal analysis, including steady-state and transient thermal behaviour Understanding of heat paths and thermal management for motors, windings and power electronics Experience taking mechanical designs through prototype build, testing and validation. Experience working with manufacturing teams to design processes suitable for volume production. Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering.
Preferred Experience
Experience in aerospace, defence, drones/UAVs or electric propulsion.
