Management Accountant - Oxford - Permanant
Savant are pleased to be supporting a well-established business on the outskirts of Oxford in their search for a Management Accountant to join their small but friendly finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a varied, hands-on role within a collaborative environment. Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in the day-to-day finance function, taking ownership of the general ledger and supporting the production of accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded. Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary. Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies. Prepare and post journals including accruals, prepayments and fixed assets. Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes. Support budgeting and forecasting activities. Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful insights to support business decision-making. Prepare VAT returns and assist with other statutory reporting requirements. Support cash flow reporting and balance sheet management. Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting. Assist with the annual audit and respond to auditor queries. Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls. Provide support across the wider finance function when required.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Previous experience in a Management Accountant or General Ledger Accountant position. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end processes. Experience preparing management accounts. Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills. Strong Excel skills and confidence using accounting systems. Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business. A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail. Ideally studying towards or qualified in ACCA, CIMA or ACA, although qualified by experience candidates will also be considered.
