We’re delighted to be supporting a specialist manufacturing business in Sheffield in the appointment of a Quality Engineer to join its established Quality function.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality professional to take a hands-on role within a safety-critical manufacturing environment, working across Quality Assurance and Quality Control to ensure products, processes and documentation meet stringent customer and regulatory requirements.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, you’ll work closely with Engineering, Production, Technical, Commercial, Supply Chain and Project Management teams, as well as customers and third-party inspection bodies.
As Quality Engineer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving the company’s Integrated Management System, supporting compliance with ISO 9001 and developing knowledge of industry-specific standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities throughout design, manufacture, testing and product release. Investigating internal and external non-conformances, customer complaints and returns, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions. Leading and supporting 8D, root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities. Working closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to contain and resolve quality issues. Conducting internal process and IMS audits, alongside supporting supplier quality audits. Supporting supplier approval, monitoring and evaluation activities. Reviewing customer, regulatory and Customer Specific Quality Requirements (CSR) and ensuring these are reflected within the management system. Maintaining quality documentation, including SOPs and Work Instructions. Developing Inspection & Test Plans alongside customers, third-party inspectors and notified bodies. Undertaking inspection and quality control activities at key manufacturing stages and during final product release. Analysing NCR data and quality trends to identify opportunities for improvement. Delivering quality-related training and communicating emerging issues through quality alerts. Ensuring products and associated certification meet customer and regulatory requirements prior to dispatch.
About You
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical Quality knowledge with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
You’ll ideally have:
Experience working in a Quality or Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge and practical experience of ISO 9001. Experience with non-conformance, root cause analysis, corrective action and continuous improvement. Experience undertaking internal or process audits. Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively across Engineering, Production, Supply Chain and customer teams. The ability to make evidence-based decisions and challenge processes where required. A structured and organised approach, with strong attention to detail.
