We're supporting a leading engineering consultancy delivering work on the Hinkley Point C nuclear new build project and are looking to appoint two CAD Technicians on a permanent basis in Bristol.
This is an excellent opportunity for either a Graduate Engineer with relevant project experience or a CAD Technician/Engineer (HNC/HND qualified) to join a major infrastructure programme. Working within a multidisciplinary design team, you'll use AVEVA E3D to develop and coordinate 3D models that support the delivery of one of the UK's most significant energy projects.
This role suits an enthusiastic individual eager to learn and develop new skills in a 3D design environment.
Essential Technical & General Background
3D CAD Knowledge: Basic working knowledge of 3D modelling required; experience with AVEVA E3D or PDMS is essential.
Education & Experience: Engineering Diploma/Degree OR at least 2 years of CAD drafting/design experience.
Engineering Principles: Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering principles.
Software Skills: Proficient user of the Microsoft Office suite; minimum basic level in AVEVA PDMS or E3D (standard 3D module).
Desirable Skills & Experience
Construction engineering and building services interest.
MEH (Mechanical/Electrical/HVAC) installation design/engineering experience.
Specific knowledge of cable routing and/or cable tray design.
Experience working in a BIM 3D modelling environment and managing interfaces.
Experience in the nuclear industry or heavy industry large projects.
Experience with AVEVA E3D Cabling System module and Navisworks (3D review tool).
What You'll Be Doing
You will undergo a comprehensive 3-week training programme covering LCT activities, processes, methods, tools, and Aveva E3D software at the start of your assignment. Your core responsibilities will include:
Cable Routing: Route cables in Aveva E3D using the Cabling System module based on provided cable lists.
Tray Architecture: Define overall architecture of Local Cable Tray (LCT) layouts for building rooms in compliance with project requirements (voltage segregation, electrical trains).
Pre-dimensioning & Detailing: Create volumes for LCTs in the 3D model, carrying out final detailing using Aveva E3D catalogue components while maintaining interfaces with surrounding disciplines.
Support Integration: Add supports to the final LCT network in accordance with project standards.
