Electrical Design Engineer - Salisbury, Wiltshire SP5
We're looking for an experienced Production Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke electrical control systems for the agricultural sector and is looking to expand its close-knit team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team where you'll play a key role in designing bespoke control panels, supporting the sales process, and working closely with production to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 DOE Hours: Monday to Thursday (8:00am - 4:30pm) Friday (8:00am-3:30pm) Location: Fully office-based Holidays: 20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
Key responsibilities
Design bespoke electrical control panels and control systems to meet customer specifications. Produce wiring schematics, panel layouts and assembly drawings using SEE Electrical. Modify and maintain mechanical drawings using SolidWorks. Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production routings using Microsoft Dynamics ERP. Work closely with the sales team to review customer enquiries and prepare technical quotations. Provide technical advice and product support to both customers and internal colleagues. Carry out testing and quality inspections of completed control panels prior to dispatch. Support new product development and continuous product improvements. Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings and BOMs. Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business, sharing technical knowledge and supporting the wider team where required. There will be occasional customer interaction, including answering incoming calls and providing technical support when required. On very rare occasions, attend customer sites to assist with technical issues or breakdowns.
About you
Qualified in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline. Minimum of 2 years' experience within a Production Design Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, Control Panel Design Engineer or similar role. Experience designing electrical control panels and bespoke control systems. Proficient in SEE Electrical or similar electrical CAD software. Experience using SolidWorks to create and modify mechanical drawings. Good understanding of electrical principles, motors and associated control systems. Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs). Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise with customers and colleagues. A proactive team player who enjoys working within a collaborative office environment. Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
