Your new company Birmingham City Council is recruiting experienced Social Workers to join its newly restructured Adult Safeguarding Team. With 5 vacancies available, this is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced service that plays a crucial role in protecting vulnerable adults and promoting their safety and wellbeing.The team will manage both Safeguarding Triage and Section 42 Enquiries under one service, led by an experienced Team Manager and supported by permanent Senior Practitioners.
Your new role You will be responsible for assessing and managing safeguarding concerns, undertaking timely visits, making evidence-based decisions, and coordinating safeguarding enquiries in line with statutory responsibilities.This is a high-volume, fast-moving environment where prompt decision-making is essential. Triage work requires assessment within tight timescales, with visits often required within 24 hours and cases progressing through a rapid turnaround process.You will:
Manage safeguarding concerns from initial triage through to Section 42 enquiries Undertake timely visits and risk assessments Make defensible decisions under Section 42(1) of the Care Act 2014 Coordinate safeguarding enquiries and alternative support pathways Develop robust safeguarding plans in partnership with citizens and multi-agency partners Produce clear, evidence-based assessments and case recordings Support citizens with a range of complex care and support needs
What you'll need to succeed Minimum 2 years' post-qualified permanent Adult Social Work experience Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005 Experience of coordinating Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries Experience in Adult Safeguarding, including triage work Confidence in risk assessment, decision-making and care management Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities Social Work England registration

Mental Health pathways Domestic Abuse pathways Modern Slavery Care and Support Assessments Support Planning Multi-agency safeguarding practice
