I’m working with a well-established independent accountancy practice in Altrincham that is looking to recruit a qualified accountant to join its friendly and experienced team.
This is a broad, hands-on role where you will take responsibility for your own portfolio of clients and manage their accounts work from start to finish.
The position would suit someone who enjoys working in a smaller practice environment, building strong relationships with clients and getting involved in a varied range of work rather than being restricted to one particular area.
They are looking to offer a salary in the region of £40,000 - £50,000 , depending on experience, alongside a pleasant working environment and a good degree of flexibility.
Duties and responsibilities The role will involve managing a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses and providing a broad range of accountancy services.
Typical responsibilities will include:
Managing your own portfolio of clients Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships Managing accounts assignments from initial bookkeeping records through to completion Preparing corporation tax computations and returns Preparing personal tax returns where required Reviewing bookkeeping and accounting records Preparing and submitting VAT returns Assisting clients with bookkeeping queries and general accounting matters Getting involved with payroll work where required Liaising directly with clients and becoming a trusted point of contact Managing deadlines and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently Supporting junior members of staff where appropriate Working closely with the Partners on more complex client matters and ad hoc projects
This is very much a general practice role , so there is plenty of variety and the opportunity to get involved across accounts, tax, bookkeeping, payroll and wider client advisory work.
Experience and qualifications The successful individual will ideally be:
ACA or ACCA qualified Experienced within an accountancy practice environment Comfortable preparing accounts from start to finish Experienced managing or taking responsibility for a portfolio of clients Confident dealing directly with owner-managed businesses Familiar with corporation tax, VAT and general practice work Organised and able to manage a number of different client deadlines Comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a small team
Experience across bookkeeping, payroll and personal tax would be useful, although they do not expect someone to be a specialist in every area.
