Role: Mechanical Design Engineer Type: Permanent, Full Time Hours: Day Shifts Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum (depending on experience) Location: Coventry, West Midlands Owen Daniels are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and manufacturing business in Coventry is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer with specialist experience in rotating machinery . The company offers a modern working environment, excellent technical resources, and a strong benefits package designed to attract top-tier engineering talent. Key Responsibilities:
Support the mechanical design and development of precision-engineered rotating equipment, including motors, pumps, compressors, or gearbox assemblies. Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings (preferably using SolidWorks). Conduct engineering hand calculations. Ensure designs meet relevant performance, cost, compliance, and manufacturing requirements. Collaborate with internal teams across R&D, production, testing, and quality to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions. Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, FMEAs, and continuous improvement activities. Candidate Profile:
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline. Experience in the design and development of rotating machinery or high-speed mechanical systems. Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and technical drawing creation (SolidWorks preferred). Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design theory, structural integrity, thermodynamics, and dynamics of rotating systems. Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (API, ISO, ASME, etc.) Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively within the team.
