Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Structures & Construction Bishopsgate, Central London £40,000 - £50,000 + Travel + Healthcare + Pension + Package Structures | Cut & Carve | RC Frame | Groundworks | Construction Build Your Career with a Growing London Contractor An established and expanding specialist contractor is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Bishopsgate, Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant QS with around 2+ years' construction experience who wants greater project exposure, responsibility and a clear route towards Quantity Surveyor level. Experience within structures, structural alterations, cut & carve, demolition, RC frames or groundworks would be particularly relevant. However, this is not essential, and applications are welcomed from Assistant Quantity Surveyors from main contractor, subcontractor or other construction backgrounds. You will join an experienced commercial team, working on technically interesting London projects while developing your experience across procurement, cost management, variations, valuations and final accounts. The Role Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and senior commercial management, you will support the commercial delivery of projects from procurement through to final account. Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with subcontractor procurement and tender analysis Preparing and managing subcontractor packages Supporting valuations, variations and payment applications Monitoring project costs, budgets and commercial performance Assisting with monthly cost reporting and forecasting Identifying and managing variations and change Working closely with project and site teams Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and clients Attending commercial and project meetings Assisting with final accounts Developing towards independently managing your own projects and packages

They have built a strong reputation for delivering complex projects across London and continue to expand their workload and commercial team. For an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor, this provides the opportunity to gain specialist technical experience while learning from an established commercial team and progressing towards Quantity Surveyor and Senior Quantity Surveyor level. What They Are Looking For The ideal candidate will have:
Around 2+ years' Quantity Surveying experience Experience within construction, either for a main contractor or specialist subcontractor Structures, cut & carve, RC frame, groundworks or demolition experience would be advantageous but is not essential Degree, HNC or equivalent Quantity Surveying qualification preferred Experience assisting with procurement, valuations, variations and cost management Good commercial awareness and attention to detail Confidence communicating with site teams and subcontractors A proactive attitude and desire to develop into a well-rounded Quantity Surveyor Candidates from a main contracting background are actively encouraged to apply, particularly those looking to gain greater exposure to complex structural and specialist construction packages.
