Role Summary
We’re looking for someone with experience designing, developing and integrating electronic systems, ideally within UAV, aerospace or another safety-critical environment. You’ll have knowledge of PCB schematic and layout design, hardware assembly and testing, power distribution, flight control interfaces and sensor integration.
You should be confident troubleshooting technical issues, selecting suitable components and contributing to decisions around power budgeting and EMI/EMC compliance. You’ll also work closely with software, mechanical and flight test teams, so strong communication and collaboration skills are essential. Experience providing technical support to customers and using feedback to improve future electronic and aircraft designs would be beneficial.
Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK
What you’ll be doing (but not limited to):
Design and develop electronic systems for UAVs, including power distribution, flight control interfaces, and sensor integration Create and review schematics and PCB layouts using design tools (e.g. Altium, KiCad) Assemble, test, and debug hardware to validate functionality and reliability Collaborate with software, mechanical, and flight test teams to ensure system integration and performance Support flight testing and troubleshooting Develop and maintain documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and wiring diagrams Assist in the selection and evaluation of components, ensuring suitability for aerospace applications Contribute to system-level design decisions, such as power budgeting, signal routing, and EMI/EMC compliance Investigate and resolve field or production issues, proposing improvements for future revisions Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and recommend innovations to improve system performance and reliability Support other engineers with integration of new subsystems and components Contribute suggestions for improvements on future circuits designs and aircraft systems (motherboard reorganisation for limiting interference)
