Graduate Civil Engineer /Structural Engineer
Salary: £28,000 per annum Location: Shoreditch, London
We are looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer /Structural Engineer to join a growing structural engineering consultancy based in Shoreditch.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Civil Engineering graduate looking to begin their career within structural engineering, gaining hands-on design experience while working alongside experienced engineers.
The Role
As a Graduate Civil Engineer /Structural Engineer, you will initially join an experienced engineering team where you will receive training and mentoring while developing your technical knowledge.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with structural design and calculations Developing structural schemes and solutions Working on residential refurbishment and bespoke new-build projects Designing structural elements from first principles Coordinating designs with architects and clients Preparing designs and technical information for drawings Producing calculation packages Attending site visits Discussing design changes and ideas with the engineering team Managing your workload and reporting on project progress
As your experience develops, you will be given greater responsibility for your own projects while continuing to receive support from senior engineers.
The Person
We are looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer /Structural Engineer with:
A Civil Engineering degree from the UK or equivalent An interest in structural engineering and design An understanding of Eurocodes and their application in the UK An understanding of designing from first principles Good numerical and problem-solving skills Strong communication skills A proactive approach to learning and development The ability to organise and manage your workload
Previous site or structural engineering experience would be beneficial but isn't essential.
The company uses AutoCAD, Tekla and Autodesk Robot. Previous experience with these isn't required, although some exposure to structural design or drawing software would be useful for a Graduate Civil Engineer /Structural Engineer starting their career.
Progression
There is a strong focus on training and career development, with regular reviews and a clear progression structure.
You'll initially work closely with experienced engineers before gradually taking responsibility for more complex designs and your own project work.
This gives the Graduate Civil Engineer /Structural Engineer the opportunity to develop both technical knowledge and practical project experience from the beginning of their career.
