Robert Half Technology are assisting a leading independent business telecoms and cloud communications provider to recruit a Business Data Analyst on a contract basis. Remote working with occasional travel to site. ASAP start - 8-month minimum contract.
Role
The Business Data Analyst will gather and translate business and reporting requirements into data governance and technical data requirements within a GCP data environment.
Define, document and map KPIs, metrics and critical data elements across reporting and operational processes.
Work closely with business stakeholders, including sales teams, to understand customer data requirements and reporting needs.
Map reporting requirements back to source systems, data feeds and data warehouse structures within GCP.
Support the development of data governance frameworks and help establish sustainable data operating models.
Contribute to Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives, including data definitions, ownership and lifecycle management.
Define data quality rules and collaborate with the GCP engineering team to implement governance and quality controls using dbt.
Support data catalogue, finance process and customer data mapping activities across the wider GCP data platform.
Act as the bridge between end users and technical teams, ensuring business requirements are accurately translated into scalable data solutions.
Profile
The Business Data Analyst will have strong experience in Business Analysis within complex GCP data environments.
Strong hands-on experience with GCP is essential, ideally including BigQuery and related GCP data services.
Proven experience designing, architecting or implementing Data Governance and Master Data Management (MDM) frameworks.
Strong reporting and KPI requirements gathering experience, with the ability to map metrics through to underlying data sources.
Experience defining data quality rules, critical data elements and data governance processes.
Experience working with dbt and data warehouse environments.
Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working directly with business users and non-technical teams.
Experience within customer analytics, B2B, B2C, retail or sales data environments would be highly desirable.
Excellent communication and analytical skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
