Are you an experienced Sous Chef looking for your next opportunity, or a strong Chef de Partie ready to take the next step in your career?
We’re working with an established independent hospitality business in the Wokingham area who are looking for a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join their kitchen team.
This is a great opportunity to take on real responsibility within a quality, fresh-food environment, supporting the Head Chef in leading the kitchen while continuing to develop your own management and culinary experience.
The role
Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen and help maintain consistently high standards throughout preparation and service.
You’ll also have the opportunity to lead the team in the Head Chef’s absence and support the development of other chefs within the kitchen.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen Leading the kitchen confidently when required Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard Maintaining quality and presentation throughout service Supervising and supporting junior members of the kitchen team Assisting with stock control, ordering and minimising waste Maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards Helping ensure smooth and efficient service during busy periods Working closely with the wider kitchen and front-of-house teams Contributing ideas and supporting ongoing menu development
About you
We’d love to hear from experienced Sous Chefs, but this could also be an excellent opportunity for a strong Chef de Partie who feels ready to step up.
You’ll ideally have:
Experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Chef de Partie within a fresh-food environment Confidence running a section and helping lead a kitchen team Strong cooking and presentation skills Good organisational skills and the ability to perform under pressure Experience with stock control and ordering A good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety A positive, hands-on and team-focused approach A genuine passion for quality, fresh food The ambition to continue developing your kitchen-management experience
Hours & package
£35,000 – £38,000 per annum, depending on experience.
This is a permanent, full-time position within a busy hospitality operation. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays will be required.
