Vivid Healthcare are currently recruiting for a Vasectomy Surgical Assistant (HCA)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Healthcare Assistant to support consultants and clinical teams delivering vasectomy procedures within a specialist outpatient setting.
This is an excellent opportunity for HCAs with experience in surgical, theatre, outpatient, urology, sexual health, or minor procedures environments who are looking for flexible clinical work and professional development opportunities.
The Role
As a Vasectomy Surgical Assistant, you will work alongside clinicians to ensure the safe and effective delivery of vasectomy services. You will support patients throughout their treatment journey while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, infection control, and clinical governance.
Key Responsibilities
Assist clinicians during local anaesthetic vasectomy procedures. Prepare clinical rooms, surgical instruments, and equipment before clinics. Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection prevention and control standards. Provide reassurance and support to patients before, during, and after procedures. Assist with patient identification, consent checks, and clinical documentation. Manage clinical waste and sharps safely and appropriately. Monitor patients throughout procedures and escalate any concerns promptly. Ensure clinics run efficiently while maintaining excellent patient experience standards. Work in accordance with organisational policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Requirements Essential
Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a clinical setting. Experience supporting minor procedures, outpatient services, theatre environments, or surgical specialties. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of infection prevention and control principles. Understanding of patient confidentiality, safeguarding, and patient-centred care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain.
Desirable
Experience within urology, sexual health, reproductive health, or day surgery services. Previous experience assisting with minor surgical procedures. NHS or independent healthcare experience.
