Senior Cost Engineer – Electrical Location: London
Contract: Permanent
Salary + Car/Car Allowance + Flexible Benefits Summary We have an exciting opportunity for an electrically biased Senior Cost Engineer to join our Work Winning team at NG Bailey in London.
Working closely with our Bid and Cost Management teams, you’ll play a key role in developing accurate and competitive estimates for MEP projects, from pre-tender through to post-tender stage.
You’ll work alongside the Bid Manager and Cost Manager to help shape the pricing strategy for opportunities, using your electrical expertise and commercial awareness to identify risks, challenge solutions and suggest cost-effective alternatives that could give NG Bailey a competitive advantage.
As a senior member of the team, you’ll also support and mentor junior Cost Engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping develop capability within the wider team. Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
Preparing accurate and competitive estimates for MEP projects, with a particular focus on electrical services .
Producing detailed take-offs and measures from drawings and specifications to establish accurate project costs.
Pricing labour, materials, subcontractors and plant using current market information and appropriate productivity allowances.
Working with Bid Managers and Cost Managers to develop bid and pricing strategies and identify opportunities to strengthen our commercial position.
Using your technical knowledge to challenge solutions and identify alternative, cost-effective approaches.
Assessing and adjudicating supplier and subcontractor quotations alongside our technical experts.
Keeping up to date with market pricing, competition and workload to ensure estimates remain competitive and relevant.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders throughout the tender process to ensure submissions are accurate, compliant and delivered on time.
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the Cost Engineering team.
Providing an effective handover of tender information to the project delivery team following contract award.
What we’re looking for: If you’re an experienced Electrical Cost Engineer or Estimator with a strong understanding of building services and enjoy being involved in the strategy behind winning work, we’d love to hear from you.
You’ll be commercially aware, analytical and confident working with a range of stakeholders. You’ll be someone who can get into the detail of an estimate while also looking at the bigger picture – identifying risk, opportunity and ways we can provide a more competitive solution.
