Job Title: Graduate Design Engineer
Location: Rural Dartford, DA2 Office Based: Monday - Friday 8.30-5pm; 37.5 hours

If so, our client is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Design Engineer to embark on an exciting journey into fire safety systems design. About the Role: The Graduate Design Engineer programme is designed as a launchpad for graduates and early-career candidates. Over the course of 12 months, successful candidates will rotate through the entire design lifecycle under close mentorship, gradually building towards independent competence as a Designer. This structured programme aligns with university leaving dates and concludes with a qualifying exam-satisfactory completion and a pass are essential to progress to a Designer role.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret fire strategies and customer specifications into working system designs, with support from senior team members. Write comprehensive technical design documentation. Produce and edit CAD drawings using AutoCAD. Conduct design calculations under supervision to validate designs. Collaborate effectively with senior designers, engineers, and clients. Attend design and project handover meetings to ensure seamless transitions. Support the preparation of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals and project closeout documentation.
Requirements - Essential:
A degree or Level 3+ qualification in Engineering, Building Services, Physics, or equivalent relevant experience. Strong, clear, and professional technical communication skills. Excellent time management abilities and capacity to juggle multiple live projects. A proactive team player with a 'get it done' mindset. Confidence in using Microsoft Office and Windows OS.
Requirements - Desirable:
Prior knowledge of smoke control systems (mechanical or natural) and ventilation. Familiarity with fire detection and alarm systems. Exposure to HVAC or electrical building services. Experience with AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD tools.
