Pay Rate: £35.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Working Pattern: Hybrid working (flexible home-working split to be negotiated)
Caseload: Manageable capped caseloads of ~24 children per Social Worker
Contract: Full-Time (Ongoing locum contract)
Are you an experienced Senior Social Worker seeking a rewarding statutory role in West Yorkshire with manageable caseloads and hybrid working flexibility?
We are currently recruiting a skilled Senior Social Worker to join a dedicated Children's Locality Team based in Wakefield . Offering a competitive pay rate of £35.00 per hour , this role stands out for its realistic, manageable workload-keeping caseloads at around 24 per Social Worker -allowing you to deliver meaningful, high-quality interventions with children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Complex Case Management: Manage a statutory caseload (~24) of complex Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Looked After Children (LAC) cases across the Wakefield district.
Specialist Assessments: Complete robust, timely Single Assessments, risk management plans, and outcome-focused care plans.
Safeguarding & Court Work: Lead on Section 47 safeguarding enquiries, court proceedings, and pre-proceedings (PLO) when required.
Mentoring & Leadership: Provide informal peer support, mentoring, and professional guidance to less experienced social workers within the team.
Multi-Agency Working: Collaborate closely with health partners, schools, West Yorkshire Police, and voluntary sector services.
What We Are Looking For:
Professional Registration: Active registration with Social Work England (SWE) .
Core Experience: Significant post-qualifying experience as a Social Worker or Senior Social Worker in a statutory Children's Locality, Safeguarding, or Family Support team.
Legal Knowledge: In-depth working knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and relevant court frameworks.
Key Skills: Excellent analytical report-writing abilities, strong crisis de-escalation skills, and a commitment to child-centred practice.
