Location: South London & Docklands (Southwark College, Lewisham College and HE Centre – Harbour Exchange, Canary Wharf) Contract: Temporary / Bank / Casual / Permanent Hours: Flexible – dependent on curriculum needs Employer: The Supply Register (on behalf of NCG South London Colleges)
The Supply Register is currently inviting expressions of interest from qualified and passionate English Lecturers to support NCG South London Colleges, including Southwark College, Lewisham College, and the HE Centre at Harbour Exchange in Canary Wharf, on a flexible bank staff basis.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced English Lecturer seeking flexible teaching opportunities within a supportive Further and Higher Education environment.
As an English Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across GCSE English and Functional Skills English, supporting learners to develop essential literacy skills and achieve their qualifications. Bank English Lecturer staff play a vital role in supporting curriculum delivery and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
The Role
As an English Lecturer, your responsibilities will include:
Delivering high-quality GCSE and/or Functional Skills English lessons Planning and preparing engaging and inclusive teaching sessions Supporting students to develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills Monitoring learner progress and providing constructive feedback Creating a positive, supportive, and professional learning environment Supporting learners with varying abilities and educational needs
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent) Relevant degree in English, Education, or a related subject Experience teaching English within Further Education, Higher Education, or schools Strong communication and classroom management skills Flexible, reliable, and professional approach
Desirable:
Experience delivering Functional Skills English Experience teaching within the Further Education sector Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
