PROJECT MANAGER - RAIL VEHICLE

We're recruiting on behalf of an innovative engineering organisation seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their growing team in Derby.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the successful delivery of complex engineering projects within a highly regulated environment. Working closely with clients, technical teams, and key stakeholders, you'll take ownership of projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
The Role
As Project Manager, you'll oversee the full project life-cycle, coordinating multidisciplinary teams while balancing technical delivery, commercial performance, and customer expectations. You'll be responsible for driving projects forward, managing resources effectively and ensuring all work complies with industry standards, company procedures, and relevant legislation.
Lead the planning, coordination, and successful delivery of engineering projects from concept through to completion. Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful commercial and technical outcomes. Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Identify project risks, implement mitigation strategies, and proactively resolve issues. Ensure projects are delivered in line with quality, safety, and environmental standards. Coordinate technical teams to ensure work is completed accurately and reviewed to the required standard. Prepare and present project documentation, reports, and progress updates to stakeholders. Support business development activities by promoting company capabilities and identifying opportunities for future work. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery and operational processes.
About You
We're looking for an organised and commercially aware Project Manager with experience delivering engineering projects in a regulated environment.
Previous experience managing engineering or technical projects. A good understanding of project planning, resource management, and commercial delivery. Knowledge of the UK rail industry, associated standards, and regulatory requirements. An engineering or technical qualification, or equivalent industry experience. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. The ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems effectively. A collaborative approach with the confidence to lead project teams and engage with clients. Must have experience on rolling stock or rail vehicle projects.
