We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer for a global organisation based in London.
Ideally you will have strong experience with Juniper Networks and firewalls and be happy to predominately work with these Technologies or transfer from Cisco to Juniper.
35% Project and design work and 65% BAU
Be able to produce basic Network designs
Support all internal networks across UK sites and European offices, reporting to the Head of Networks. Work with and provide cover for the Customer Networks and Product Development Manager. Contribute to IT network project delivery, including design, build and stakeholder communication. . Maintain and configure all routers, switches, and related network equipment. Deliver and support customer connections, including server sockets, VLANs and similar services. Assist with the configuration of internal and external switches. Provide technical support for service-network cabling, including planning and deploying cabinet cabling. Support firmware and software updates for routers and switches. Assist with EOL management and ensure timely planning and budgeting for replacements. Support telephony systems, including ISDN and SIP services. Assist in maintaining backups, redundancies and disaster recovery processes for all network services. Support network security through monitoring, audits, baselining and working with internal and external assessors. Support security and monitoring systems such as Systems Observer and FireEye. Support assigned projects, including procurement meetings, budgeting and security assessments. Degree (or equivalent ) in a computer related subject Must have knowledge of the following: windows 2003 and above, exchange server, LANs, WANs, virtualisation, TCP/IP, Routing, SANs, network design, firewalls, Active Directory, encryption technologies, system monitoring and management Ability to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of IT, LAN, PCs, Voice, Data and all associated software, fault isolation and problem resolutions. Proven and demonstrable experience in supporting IT infrastructure including networks, security hardware. Deep experience of one major network equipment provider is essential. Evidence of implementing IT security tools and techniques Practical experience on the management of change Good working knowledge of Information Governance and its application within IT Must be able to demonstrate commitment to customer facing service Ability to demonstrate significant experience of managing / motivating staff and developing staff Understanding of core Internet protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, BGP, etc.)
