About the Opportunity:
This role is based directly on-site at the landmark Hinkley Point C nuclear power station project in Somerset.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the QC Engineer will conduct inspections, quality surveillance, and non-destructive testing (NDT) oversight in strict accordance with the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs). You will play a vital role in validating welding procedures, reviewing Lifetime Records (LTRs), auditing sub-contractors, and ensuring all fabrication and mechanical works comply with rigorous nuclear specifications.
Key Responsibilities: Quality Control, Inspections & Testing
Plan Implementation: Ensure the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) are written, aligned with project requirements, and rigorously implemented across site activities.
Welding & NDT Surveillance: Review and verify that welding procedures, qualification records, and non-destructive testing meet code and contractual standards.
Equipment Verification: Review test and calibration equipment to guarantee full compliance with project and company standards.
Documentation, Certification & LTRs
Lifetime Records (LTRs): Conduct final reviews of all fabrication, assembly, and quality documentation prior to formal submission to the main client.
Document Control: Issue required quality documentation to Document Control for formal client review and approval.
Personnel Competency Files: Collate and maintain up-to-date SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person) records for project personnel.
Supply Chain, Audits & Non-Conformance
Auditing & NCRs: Conduct internal and external audits of work packages, suppliers, and sub-contractors. Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), analyse root causes, and ensure timely closure.
