R&D Technician
Location: West Yorkshire Job Type: Full-time, On-site Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Salary: Competitive and DOE
Join our client's Research & Development team as an R&D Technician, where you will support the Product Development Manager in executing the company's Innovation Strategy. This role is crucial in conducting laboratory testing, generating reliable data, and providing technical support to ensure the successful delivery of innovation projects from concept to completion. This role is ideal for candidates wanting to work in Chemical or Coatings manufacturing, or anyone wanting to specialise in Polymer Chemistry.
Day-to-day of the role:
Support the R&D team in executing innovation projects, ensuring work is delivered to agreed quality, timescales, and priorities. Plan and conduct laboratory experiments, testing, and evaluations in line with project requirements and standard operating procedures. Accurately record, analyse, and interpret experimental data, providing clear reports and recommendations to the project team. Attend project meetings and contribute technical knowledge to support project decision-making. Provide technical advice and recommendations based on laboratory testing and experimental outcomes. Prepare laboratory samples, formulations, and test materials as required. Ensure all laboratory work complies with company quality standards, health and safety requirements, and relevant legislation. Assist in the development and continuous improvement of laboratory methods and testing procedures. Support the Product Control team with scale-up and validation of new products and raw materials where required. Work collaboratively with colleagues across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Commercial functions to achieve project objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline (or equivalent qualification). Strong understanding of laboratory testing techniques and experimental procedures. Ability to accurately analyse and interpret technical data. Good report writing and documentation skills. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Desirable: Experience supporting product development or innovation projects, knowledge of formulation chemistry, experience within ISO quality management systems, understanding of Design of Experiments (DoE), practical laboratory experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.
