Accountant Location: Beverley, East Yorkshire Salary: Circa £35,000-£42,000, depending on experience Contract: Full-time, Permanent Working Pattern: 100% office-based
About the Role An established and growing independent accountancy practice is looking to recruit an experienced Accountant to join its friendly and professional team. This is a varied role offering the opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for accounts preparation, taxation and general accounting duties. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider team and have regular client contact, providing a high-quality and personable service. The role would suit an Accountant with previous practice experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and growing firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of statutory and year-end accounts for a range of clients.
- Preparation of management accounts and financial information where required.
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
- Assisting with personal and corporation tax returns.
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and completing bookkeeping duties.
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.
- Providing general accounting and tax support to clients.
- Assisting with client queries and providing straightforward financial guidance.
- Working closely with senior team members and Partners on client assignments.
- Supporting junior members of the team and reviewing work where appropriate.
- Ensuring all work is completed accurately and within relevant deadlines.
Requirements & Experience
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is preferred.
- AAT, ACA or ACCA qualification/study towards a relevant qualification would be advantageous.
- Strong experience in accounts preparation and general practice accounting.
- Good understanding of UK accounting and taxation requirements.
- Experience with VAT and tax returns.
- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload.
- Comfortable working as part of a collaborative, office-based team.
