Role Purpose:
The Management Accountant is responsible for producing accurate and timely financial information, supporting business decision-making, maintaining robust financial controls, and ensuring compliance with statutory and company reporting requirements across multiple group entities.
Main Duties:
Take full responsibility for allocated company accounts from Trial Balance through to monthly management accounts. Assist the finance team in the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs. Produce variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior periods. Support annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Process transactions accurately across multiple entities. Maintain accurate control accounts. Process sales and purchase ledgers when necessary. Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards. Prepare prepayments, accruals and month-end journals. Process payroll journals and employee expense claims. Prepare cash flow forecasts. Review and reconcile balance sheets monthly. Prepare and submit VAT returns. Process and reconcile inter-company transactions. Support statutory accounts preparation and external audit. Develop and improve financial controls and reporting processes. Liaise across departments to resolve queries. Support the wider Finance team and provide cover where required. Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role.
Technical Skills Required:
Advanced Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP and Power Query (desirable). AAT Level 4, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience. Sage 200 or similar ERP/accounting system experience. Strong knowledge of management accounting, VAT and month-end reporting. Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
Desirable Experience:
3–5 years' finance experience. Experience preparing monthly management accounts. Multi-entity accounting experience. Balance sheet reconciliations and VAT compliance.
