Job Title: Senior Network Engineer

Our client, Merseyside Police are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their team in Rosehill Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to provide hands-on support, administration, troubleshooting, and implementation across an enterprise network environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide BAU support, maintenance, and proactive monitoring of network infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, service degradations, and outages, including root cause analysis and implementation of permanent fixes. Implement approved network changes, infrastructure upgrades, firewall administration, and security controls. Collaborate with infrastructure, server, and security teams, supporting the delivery of projects requiring networking expertise.
Key Requirements:
Hands-on experience with FortiGate firewall administration, including security policy management, VPNs, and monitoring. Strong expertise in supporting enterprise LAN/WAN and data centre networks within medium to large enterprise environments. Proven knowledge in routing, switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NTP, VPNs, OSPF, BGP, and network monitoring. Practical experience in administering data centre networking, including high availability architectures and resilient network design.
Candidate Profile:
A hands-on professional with strong technical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Experienced in operational support environments and comfortable working across both BAU and project activities. Able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong communication and documentation standards. Due to the Police Vetting criteria you must have resided within the UK continuously for the past 5 years at the time of application.
Desirable Certifications :
Fortinet FCP / NSE equivalent CCNP Enterprise ITIL Foundation
