Job Purpose:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join a growing business in Daventry, supporting the finance function across three distinct businesses with different operating models.
This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of core financial processes while managing and supporting a team of three. You will act as the key link between senior management and the finance team, providing guidance and oversight while also remaining involved in the day-to-day accounting activities.
The role would suit a well-rounded finance professional who is comfortable working across multiple areas of finance, managing competing priorities and contributing to the continued development of the finance function.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and support a team of three within the finance function. Act as the link between senior management and the finance team, providing guidance, support and oversight. Maintain and reconcile general ledgers across multiple companies. Prepare and review monthly management accounts and trial balances. Complete and oversee balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare and post journals. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. Record day-to-day financial transactions, including invoices, payments and expenses. Manage and oversee payment runs. Assist with payroll preparation and administration. Monitor cash flow and update forecasts as required. Review financial information and investigate discrepancies. Support the finance team through month-end processes and reporting deadlines. Produce accurate financial information within agreed deadlines. Contribute to process improvements and the continued development of the finance function. Work closely with the wider business to ensure accurate and timely financial information is available.
Person Specification:
Hands-on and commercially minded approach to finance. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Confident managing and supporting a small finance team. Good communication and people-management skills. Comfortable working across multiple areas of finance and managing competing priorities. Able to work independently while providing effective support and guidance to the wider finance team.
Experience:
Previous experience in a Finance Manager or similar finance role. Experience managing or supervising a small finance team. Experience working within a multi-entity or multi-company environment. Experience with journals, general ledgers, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Strong Excel skills, including formulas, VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables. AAT Level 3 qualification as a minimum, or QBE. Part-qualified or qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA candidates will also be considered. Previous experience working across multiple companies would be desirable. Experience using Xero would be advantageous but is not essential.
