We're working with an established Biotech business based just north of Cambridge that is looking for a hands-on Management Accountant to join its small finance team.
This isn't a role where you'll spend all day producing reports and disappearing back into Excel. You'll work closely with the Financial Controller and people across the wider business, taking responsibility for a broad range of accounting activities and becoming a dependable number two within Finance.
It's a particularly good opportunity for either an experienced part-qualified accountant looking for greater responsibility, or someone who's "been there and done it" and simply enjoys the variety and autonomy that comes with working in an SME environment.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for a broad range of finance activities, including:
Preparation of monthly management accounts Balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments AP, AR, invoicing and credit control Stock accounting Payroll support Quarterly VAT returns Cashflow and banking Budgeting and forecasting Supporting statutory accounts and year-end audit Working with project teams on project-related accounting Intercompany accounting Ad hoc analysis and finance projects Identifying opportunities to improve processes and reporting
What are we looking for?
There isn't one particular route into this role.
You could be AAT qualified, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience. More important is that you've developed solid management accounting experience and are comfortable working across the wider finance function.
Experience within manufacturing, engineering, pharmaceutical or another project/product-led environment would be useful, but it isn't essential. Above all, this role needs someone who doesn't see transactional accounting as "beneath them". It's broad, varied and hands-on by design.
This is a fully site-based role.
