Southend-on-Sea, Essex September 2026 Secondary School - Humanities Teacher Monday - Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm Pay: MPS/UPS (depending on experience) Applications close: 30/07/26 Interviews: CVs are being reviewed throughout the Summer Term, with interviews and trial days taking place ahead of September. Successful candidates will be onboarded ready for the new academic year.
We are working with a well-regarded secondary school in Southend-on-Sea, rated GOOD by Ofsted, that is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic QTS Humanities Teacher. The school is committed to delivering a broad and engaging Humanities curriculum, encouraging students to think critically, explore different perspectives and develop a deeper understanding of historical events, geographical issues and the wider world.
Job Overview:
This school caters for students aged 11-16. Full-time, Monday - Friday, Humanities Teacher role. Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4, teaching a combination of History, Geography and, where appropriate, Religious Studies. Inspire students through creative and thought-provoking teaching that develops analytical skills, curiosity and independent thinking. Assess, monitor and track student progress to ensure strong attainment and positive outcomes. Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where all students can thrive. Encourage discussion, debate, enquiry and investigative learning while helping students make connections between people, places, cultures and historical events.
What we're looking for:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
A degree in History, Geography, Humanities or a closely related subject. Experience teaching Humanities subjects across KS3 and KS4 within a secondary school. The ability to teach History and/or Geography confidently, with experience of additional Humanities subjects being advantageous. A passion for Humanities and the ability to engage, motivate and challenge learners of all abilities. Strong classroom management and organisational skills. A proactive, positive and collaborative approach to teaching and learning. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
