Job title: Finance Officer
Job Purpose:
The Finance Officer will be based at Phoenix House, Blaina and will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the charity, ensuring the organisation can continue delivering life-changing support for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. Reporting to the CEO, the Officer will keep the day-to-day finances accurate and up to date, processing invoices, income, balances and payments, and supporting bank reconciliations, credit control, and year-end preparation. It is a role for someone who takes real pride in getting the detail right, and who wants their work to make a tangible difference.
The post holder will support accurate financial administration across the organisation, including purchase and sales ledger activity, income processing, supplier payments, finance queries, project budgeting support and routine reporting for the CEO and Board of Trustees.
This role requires a highly organised, accurate and proactive individual who is confident working with financial systems, sensitive information and colleagues across a values-led charity.
Key Responsibilities
- Finance
Processing purchase and sales invoices, company debit cards and expenses. Processing income received through various channels, and investigating variances and queries. Supporting payments to suppliers and petty cash transactions. Supporting the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations. Assisting with year-end accounts preparation and supporting the auditors. Supporting the production of the debtors list and helping with credit control. Processing transactions accurately using Xero. Resolving a range of day-to-day finance queries. Assist in providing accurate budgets for new projects.
- Finance Reporting and Organisational Support
Support the CEO with finance-related projects, financial information requests and budget preparation as required. Produce regular finance reports and information for the Board of Trustees. Assist with finance information required for the Annual Report and other statutory or compliance reports. Maintain organised finance records and respond professionally to finance-related queries from colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders.
- General
Undertake relevant training as required. Work in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures. Any other duties by mutual agreement with line manager or CEO.
