Role Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Estimator / Quantity Surveyor. This hybrid role offers a fantastic opportunity to work on diverse fit out projects, large-scale new builds, refurbishments, and extensions within the retail and commercial sectors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering commercially viable and accurate cost estimations while supporting project management throughout the build lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for shopfitting and fit out projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and project specifications. Collaborate closely with design, project management, and procurement teams to assess project feasibility and develop comprehensive cost plans. Measure and quantify bill of quantities for new builds, refurbishments, and extensions, focusing on the food and supermarket fit out sectors. Analyze tender documents, supplier quotes, and subcontractor bids to create competitive bids and cost evaluations. Monitor project budgets and costs throughout the construction process, identifying and mitigating risks to maximise profitability. Assist with contract administration, valuations, and payment applications as required. Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure transparency and effective communication. Support continuous improvement initiatives by benchmarking costs and implementing cost-saving measures.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor, ideally within shopfitting, retail fit outs, or commercial construction sectors. Strong understanding of construction procurement, tendering processes, and contract management. Excellent numerical literacy and proficiency with measurement and estimating software/tools. Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings comprehensively. Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Proactive approach to problem-solving and excellent communication skills. Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline is desirable. A full UK driving licence is preferred due to site visits.
