Senior Transport Manager - West Midlands - £60,000 - £70,000 + Package
The Role
This Senior Transport Manager opportunity is with a well-established distribution business based in the West Midlands, taking ownership of a large-scale, fast-paced transport operation.
The business is looking for an experienced Senior Transport Manager who can lead from the front, develop a strong transport leadership team and drive performance across service, cost, compliance and people. You'll have significant operational responsibility while also playing a key role in shaping the longer-term transport strategy.
Working closely with the wider Logistics distribution and supply chain function, you'll be expected to challenge existing processes, identify efficiencies and ensure the transport operation continues to deliver against demanding customer and commercial expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Leading the day-to-day performance of a large-scale transport operation Managing, coaching and developing transport managers, planners and operational teams Driving performance across service, cost, fleet utilisation and delivery KPIs Taking ownership of transport budgets and identifying opportunities to reduce cost and improve efficiency Ensuring the operation remains fully compliant with Operator Licence, DVSA, drivers' hours and Working Time Directive requirements Driving improvements across route planning, fleet utilisation and operational processes Leading Continuous Improvement initiatives and supporting wider transport projects Working closely with warehousing and the wider Logistics distribution and supply chain teams to improve end-to-end performance Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, customers and third-party suppliers Creating a high-performing transport culture with a strong focus on accountability, engagement and development
Key Experience
Proven experience operating as a Senior Transport Manager, Transport Manager, Head of Transport or similar senior transport leadership role Experience leading a sizeable, complex transport operation within retail, 3PL, FMCG or distribution Strong knowledge of Operator Licence requirements, DVSA compliance and transport legislation Proven experience managing transport budgets, costs and operational KPIs Demonstrable success improving fleet utilisation, service and transport efficiency Strong people leadership experience with the ability to develop management teams Experience delivering Continuous Improvement and operational change Strong commercial and stakeholder management skills within a Logistics distribution and supply chain environment Transport Manager CPC would be highly advantageous
