Management Accountant - 6 - 9 Month FTC Salary: Up to £50,000 (d.o.e) + Car & Benefits Location: Remote / Northampton – very occasional travel to the Northampton office
Purpose of the Role
We’re recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant to join an established organisation on a 6 - 9 month fixed-term contract. This is a predominantly remote opportunity, offering plenty of ownership across month-end reporting, management accounts, balance sheet reporting and process improvement.
The role would suit someone who is comfortable working autonomously, has strong Excel skills, and enjoys getting into the detail to understand and improve financial processes.
Key Duties
Support the preparation of monthly and annual management accounts. Produce monthly financial reports and ensure reporting deadlines are achieved. Prepare and complete monthly journals, working with relevant stakeholders to obtain appropriate supporting information. Take ownership of monthly balance sheet reporting, investigating queries and driving issues through to resolution. Take ownership of key financial reports, ensuring they remain accurate, efficient and fit for purpose. Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automate processes and increase efficiency across finance. Support year-end activity, including audit requests and liaison with external auditors. Provide financial analysis and insight for ad-hoc projects when required. Support the testing and implementation of new financial tools and processes.
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience within a Management Accountant or similar month-end focused finance role. Strong Excel skills are essential, with the ability to work confidently with large and complex sets of financial data. Part-qualified or fully qualified CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent. Strong management accounting experience, including journals, balance sheet reporting and month-end processes. Confident stakeholder management and communication skills, particularly when working with remote or overseas teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with excellent attention to detail. Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of issues through to resolution. Experience of improving financial processes, reporting or efficiencies would be highly advantageous. Previous experience working with ERP or financial reporting systems would be beneficial, although specific system experience is not essential.
