Financial Accountant
Location: Edinburgh Area Salary: £40,000-£45,000 Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Study Support: Full study support and funding available
We are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant on behalf of an established organisation based in the Edinburgh area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Part-Qualified or Newly Qualified Accountant looking to develop their technical accounting experience, take on greater responsibility and progress their career within industry.
The Opportunity
Working closely with the Finance Manager and senior leadership team, you will support the technical accounting function and play an important role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
This is a hands-on position within a relatively small finance team, offering broad exposure across the business and the opportunity to take ownership of key accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting. Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations. Supporting month-end and year-end close processes. Preparing and posting journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments. Analysing financial information and investigating variances. Producing and maintaining Excel-based reports and analysis. Supporting budgets, forecasts and management information. Assisting with statutory accounting and year-end requirements. Working with senior stakeholders to provide accurate financial information. Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting. Supporting the development of finance and ERP systems.
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong technical accounting foundation who is ready to take the next step in their career.
Ideally, you will have:
Part-Qualified or Newly Qualified status, ideally CIMA, ACCA or ACA. Strong financial accounting and month-end experience. Experience with balance sheet reconciliations. Strong Excel skills for reporting and analysis. A self-motivated, organised and process-driven approach. The ability to work independently and take ownership. Strong communication skills and confidence working with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
