We are looking for a passionate, committed and experienced Bricklaying Project Worker to join our team, working directly with children, young people and families to help them overcome challenges, build resilience and achieve positive outcomes.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience of supporting vulnerable children and families, who can build positive relationships, work collaboratively with partners and apply safeguarding practices with confidence.
About the Role
Bricklaying Project Worker (Primarily bricklaying, with aspects of tilling and plastering preferred.) needed to join our team of vocational tutors at Barnardo's Employment Training and Skills North, based in North Shields.
Barnardo's delivers a range of learning programmes to vulnerable young people using creative and innovative delivery models and this is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and career with a forward-thinking learning provider. We are currently looking for a tutor to deliver a variety of brick laying courses and multi skills courses to support our young people to gain qualifications and move into employment.
The tutor role will provide a pivotal role to the development of the Barnardo's ETSN to offer Study Programmes to young people aged 16-18 (up to 25 with an EHCP) school programmes and apprenticeships.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver direct support and interventions to children, young people and families. Build strong relationships with parents and carers, empowering them to achieve positive outcomes. Work collaboratively with statutory and community partners to provide effective support. Manage and support complex cases within the service. Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of services. Apply safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures at all times. Maintain accurate case notes, reports and management information. Take responsibility for resources and equipment linked to service delivery. Provide day-to-day support, guidance and supervision to staff, students or volunteers where required. Promote and maintain health, safety and wellbeing within the working environment.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
Knowledge and Qualifications
A relevant qualification required for practice, where applicable. Ideally a relevant NVQ Level 4 or 5 qualification, or equivalent. Understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable children, young people and families, including disadvantage, poverty and disability. Knowledge of child and young people's development. Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and relevant legislation.
