Technical Science Writer
Salary: £27,500 - £35,000 Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire (must be within commuting distance; relocation support is not available) Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Science Writer to join an innovative scientific organisation in Huntingdon. This role would suit a scientifically qualified individual with a passion for science, strong written communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging content.
Working closely with technical experts and stakeholders, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and enhancing a wide range of scientific, technical and digital content while ensuring accuracy, compliance and consistency throughout.
Key Requirements
Degree qualified in Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physics or a related scientific discipline. Previous experience in a Technical Writer, Scientific Writer, Technical Author, Documentation Specialist, Content Writer or similar role. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to communicate complex scientific concepts in a clear and concise manner. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Experience working within a scientific, technical, manufacturing, pharmaceutical or regulated environment. Strong organisational and project management skills. Commerically minded with demonstreatable experience Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems. Understanding of GEO, SEO principles and digital content optimisation. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
Create, review, edit and maintain technical and scientific documentation. Develop high-quality content for digital platforms, including technical articles, blog posts, white papers, case studies, product information and application guides. Convert complex scientific data and technical information into clear, engaging and user-friendly content tailored to a range of audiences. Work closely with subject matter experts to gather, verify and communicate technical information accurately. Produce reports, procedures, work instructions, specifications and other technical communications. Ensure all documentation and content complies with relevant quality, regulatory and business requirements. Optimise content for both traditional search engines and emerging AI-driven search tools through keyword research, search intent analysis and structured content creation. Support lead generation activities by creating content that drives engagement, enquiries and conversions. Assist with content distribution across digital channels, including websites, social media, email campaigns and paid advertising. Participate in relevant scientific and technical communities, contributing insights and engaging with industry discussions. Collaborate with scientists, engineers, technical specialists and commercial teams to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives. Stay informed of industry developments, emerging technologies and market trends to identify new content opportunities. Create and manage social media content, including coverage of exhibitions, conferences and industry events. Maintain document control processes, including updates, revisions, version management and record keeping. Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to documentation, content development and knowledge management.
