GC154: Project Engineer Location: Fort William Salary: Competitive Overview: Our well-established client are Water and Power engineers with experience from feasibility studies to design, project management and O&M . They are committed to providing practical, cost-effective engineering solutions and have a multi-disciplined international team of skilled engineers and designers complemented by associates with diverse specialist skills and experience. We are looking for a Project Engineer with a can-do attitude to join their team. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates and particularly encourage applications from ex-military personnel. Key Responsibilities:
Examining the engineering requirements of designs and comparing these with the commercial and site constraints. Managing suppliers & service providers and keeping track of project programme. Maintaining cost control for projects and their individual elements. Assisting in the supervision of pipe testing and inspection of civil engineering structures. Liaison between designers, site staff/contractors and the management team. Know the sequence of jobs (in the office) and pre-empt the need for information/client input. Work as part of a team to suggest improvements which will benefit our clients.
Work schedule:
Regular travel and overnight stays to remote sites. Weekend work may be required occasionally. Paid overtime. Typical work cycle 5.5 / 7, or 11 / 14.
Qualifications & Skills:
A higher-level engineering qualification (BTEC, HND, Degree) – likely to be Mechanical or Electrical but would consider Civil. Site experience such as installation and commissioning is desirable. A good knowledge of engineering quantities and programmes. Good ability with engineering calculations and design reports. 4 years+ experience with a contractor or engineering consultancy would be beneficial. Able to work within a dynamic environment with good attention to detail. Able to work to tight deadlines and self-manage priorities against multiple tasks. Strong troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills. Proactive and ability to be flexible in a changing environment. Able to work independently, under pressure and in remote areas. Excellent client-facing and communication skills. A full driving licence.
