Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take ownership of technically challenging projects while having the opportunity to influence design processes and support a wider engineering team?
We are working with an established engineering business that designs and manufactures highly engineered products for a global customer base. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team.
This is a varied role combining mechanical design, customer-specific engineering, problem solving and project ownership, with the opportunity to work on bespoke solutions for technically demanding applications.
Senior Design Engineer Role Outline
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering bespoke mechanical engineering solutions based around customer requirements and existing product platforms.
You will:
Lead the design and development of bespoke mechanical products and engineered solutions for non-standard applications. Interpret customer specifications and requirements, translating them into practical and manufacturable designs. Produce and review 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings and Bills of Materials. Support the conceptual design and development of complex engineering solutions and new products. Design modifications to existing products and develop specialist equipment where required. Work closely with manufacturing, inspection, sales, applications engineering and suppliers to resolve technical issues. Liaise directly with customers and provide technical support throughout the design process. Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Support continuous improvement of design processes, procedures and engineering standards. Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers and designers, with the potential to take responsibility for team leadership and workload coordination.
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and developing practical solutions.
You will ideally have:
Strong experience in mechanical design within an engineering or manufacturing environment. An HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent engineering qualification. Strong 3D CAD experience and the ability to produce accurate engineering drawings. Experience designing complex mechanical components, assemblies or engineered products.
Experience of rotating equipment, pumps, mechanical seals, fluid handling, industrial machinery or other complex mechanical engineering products would be advantageous, but is not essential.
